My wife and I were talking this morning that sexual immorality is so much more than just homosexual sin. It includes bestiality, sex outside of marriage, incest, rape, and more. God said this is evil that comes out of our hearts and makes us unclean.
18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’ “
20 He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ 21 For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’ “
Why do we focus on one form of sexual immorality to the exclusion of the other types of sexual immorality? Why do we not focus our attention on the sin of having sex before marriage? Why do we not focus our attention on the sin of having sex with people we are not married to? I think its because so many do it and it is “acceptable.” Or perhaps because it is “hidden.” If people do it, and we dont know, then we dont need to know.
But God said to not have sex outside of marriage – He called it fornication. He called it evil. He called it sin. We need to be holy, sanctified. We need to avoid sin.
1 Thessalonians 4:3
It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;
So then, why do we avoid telling people to not have sex outside of marriage? Why focus on the obvious homosexual sex (even though that generally occurs in private, just as heterosexual sex does)?
Are you having sex without being married? If so, then you are sinning. You need to repent.
15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
We must ALL avoid sexual immorality. This is a sin God has said He will judge. If you claim to be saved, to know Christ, to love God, but you are not willing to obey Christ, what makes you think you are saved? We must have deeds which reflect the faith we claim to have (Acts 26:20). If we ae walking in a lifestyle of sin, then what makes us think we are any better than the one who denies Christ (for it is with our actions that we deny God)? If we claim to know God, we must not deny Him with our actions.
They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
There are some who would claim they are born this way, and they can not help it. I tell you, EVERYONE can be filed with the power of God and can let God work in Him to not have to sin.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
When we live a pattern of sin, we show we do not love Christ.
1 John 3:4-6
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
The choice is yours: purposefully have sex outside of marriage and deny God, or obey God and show His power working through you and that you love God.
