Are you God’s person? Then you’d better check your language:
Luke 6:45
45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
James 3:9-12
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
Ephesians 4:29
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
1 Peter 3:10
For, “Whoever would love life and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.

This one drives me crazy.
I’ve discussed it with some other Christians who are pretty casual about some of their language, and I hear things that more or less boil down to saying I’m Pharisaical and one “That’s how this culture talks.”
We apparently don’t care to look sanctified anymore …
People are not interested in being holy.
My wife and I were speaking of being holy the other day. She made the observation that when we say we dont watch certain shows or movies because of it glorifying bad languange or adultery or murder, we are accused of being legalistic and judgemental.
I know Christians who watch such shows as “South Park” and wonder … why? Even if it isn’t always offensive, isn’t that more or less its reputation and main theme? I’ve never seen so much as one episode, but I’ve had enough lines quoted and seen little excerpts more than enough to tell me that it’s designed to repulse me.
I’ve been told that I’m too legalistic, too. I don’t get it.
I just wonder, would Jesus watch it? Would we watch it if we had Jesus over for dinner?
I think that it’s very sad.
It seems to me that people who love God should be attracted to right living and holiness, and repulsed by sin. The more mature we are, the more true that will be, and conversely, the less mature we are, the less true that will be.
When I see people craving and enjoying things that insult God, i just have to wonder and pray they come to embrace and love God with everything they are.
