Mary or Christ?

Someone said, “Mary is like a window, wholly transparent to us, so all we see is to her Son. The closer we are to Mary the more deep our relationship is with her Son who is GOD and the Savior of all mankind.”

It is correct to say the human incarnation of God,  Jesus was the son of Mary; he was her first born (Luke 2:7). There is no doubt we are to honor Mary; scripture said she was blessed because she believed what God had said (Luke 1:45). Mary was used by God for His purpose. But Mary is not the one we need to have a relationship with.

It is not Mary we were told to believe in, but Jesus (John 11:25-26). It is not Mary who took away the sins of the world, but Jesus Christ (John 1:29). It is not Mary we were told to love (other than as a sister) with all our mind, heart, and strength, but God the Father and Jesus Christ (Matthew 22:36-40; Mark 12:29-31; Luke 10:26-28; John 14:20-24; 1 John 4:21). It is not Mary who laid down His life for us, but Jesus (John 10:11). It is not Mary we were told trust, but God the Father and Jesus Christ (John 14:1). It was not Mary we were told to obey, but God the Father and Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 11:28). It is not Mary who is the way, the truth and the life, but Jesus Christ is (John 14:6). It is not Mary who is the gate (John 10:7). It is not Mary who is the good Shepherd, but Jesus Christ is (John 10:11).

Mary showed an example of faith we must have in God the Father through faith in Christ. But in the end, she is human, not divine and not any more holy than any other believer. It is GOD we must look to. It is the work of Christ we must trust in. It is Christ who reconciles us to God through faith, not Mary.
