Lust or Love?

According to Dictionary.com website (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lust), lust is intense sexual desire. And according to Christ, lusting for someone is adultery.

Matthew 5:27-30

27 You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Paul made it clear that this was one of the reasons people should marry. But note that he said EACH man should have his own wife, and EACH wife should have her own husband – to help people not be tempted because of their lack of self-control. This implicitly states marriage is between a man and a woman only.

1 Corinthians 7:2-5

2 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

So. We should not lust for others, and if we have difficulty with self-control, we should marry someone of the opposite gender to avoid such lust and satisfy sexual desire.

Let us look at what love is:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

If we love, we will embrace truth and reject evil. God made it clear that homosexual sex is detestable to God.
Lev 18:22

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

God is clear, we are not to sin:

1 John 5:18

18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.

And we are not to cause other to sin.
1 Corinthians 10:32

Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God

We are to flee immorality.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20

18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Therefore, lust of one person for another is sin, unless they are married to each other, and the only marriage that God ordained is between a man and a woman. To be explicit, adultery, fornication, homosexual sex, and marriage between people of the same gender is, are sin, and cause the other person to sin – both of which show a distinct lack of love for God and for the other person.
