Will some people face punishment or will all be saved?

Some people would like to believe that everyone wil be saved and no one will face eternal punishment.

But notice that Jesus said there is a sentence of hell:
Matthew 23:33

33 “You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?

Its even more evident in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 that God will ETERNALLY punish those who do not obey Christ

7and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 8dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

Matthew 25:46

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Jude 1:7

In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

We also see that people are thrown into the lake of fire, the second death because their names are not written in the book of life.

Revelation 20:11-15

11Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

According to Jesus, we need to FEAR God, who can destroy the soul.

Matthew 10:28

28″Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

So yes, some people will face eternal punishment, and no, not everyone will be saved.

  1. I say that not all will be saved because being saved indicated we have been reconciled to God, and so the wrath of God is no longer upon us.

    John 3:18-20

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

Indeed, those who do not believe in Christ have the wrath of God still upon them.
    John 3:36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

We are saved from God’s wrath when we come to faith in Christ.

    Romans 5:8-10

8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Those who are saved are saved from God’s wrath (eternal punishment which comes from being judged without faith in Christ).
    1 Thessalonians 5:9

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
