God’s plan

There are some who claim that God’s original plan did not include Satan, or did not include sin, or did not include FILL_IN_THE_BLANK. Let’s see what scripture says about that.

First, we have to realize that God promised eternal life before the beginning of time.

Titus 1:2

2in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

God made everything (even the wicked) for its own purpose.

Proverbs 16:4

4The LORD has made everything for its own purpose,
Even the wicked for the day of evil.

All the days of our lives are written in God’s book – included in His plan.
Psalm 139:16
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance ; And in Your book were all  written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

The inheritance believers have received was predestined, according to God’s purpose. And God works everything to accomplish His will.

Ephesians 1:11

11also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will

God knows everything.

Psalm 147:5

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.

God’s knowledge is perfect.

Job 37:16

16 Do you know how the clouds hang poised,
those wonders of him who is perfect in knowledge

All of God’s works are perfect.

Deuteronomy 32:4

4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

God’s will is perfect.

Romans 12:2

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, sothat you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

God is perfect.

Matthew 5:48

48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

So the perfect God, whose knowledge is perfect, and whose works are all perfect has a plan.

Jeremiah 29:11

11‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

So, we’ve seen that God promised eternal life before time began. We see God created all things and works all things out to for his plan.

Not only that, but God’s plan has never changed.

Psalms 33:11

11The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart from generation to generation.

God will accomplish His plan.

Isaiah 14:24

24The LORD of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand

2 Kings 19:25 (NIV)

25 “‘Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it.  In days of old I planned it;  now I have brought it to pass

Psalm 33:9-11

9 For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.

People and angels can make plans, But’s GOD’s plan will prevail. Indeed, sometimes people intend evil, but God intended to use that for good.

Genesis 50:20

20 “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about thispresent result, to preserve many people alive.

Proverbs 19:21

21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

So while people have done things, those people were created for God’s purpose. While people have done things, God makes people do things or allows them and uses those things for His purpose. Everything and everyone and what everyone does is included in God’s perfect plan which He had from before time. Its not that God had to do x or y because of what so-and-so did. God is faithful to His character and fulfills His plan. He has decreed what will happen and what He will do and why. It is based upon God, not upon us.
