Some verses showing Christ is God

Notice that David in the Spirit called the Christ Lord – recognizing Him as God.
Matthew 22:41-46 (compare to Mark 12:35-37 and Luke 20:41-44)

41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question : 42 “What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?” They said to Him, “The son of David.” 43 He said to them, “Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying, 44 ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET “‘? 45 “If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son ?” 46 No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question.

The pharisees said the Christ/Messiah was the son of David, because of Isaiah 11. But Jesus quoted  Psalm 110 to show the messiah has to be both divine and human.

Christ was the Lord of the Sabbath – an interesting title when it was God who gave the sabbath. Jesus has the authority to override the laws of the Sabbath:

Matthew 12:8
8″For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27-28
27Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.  28″So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
Luke 6:5
5And He was saying to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

Christ forgave sins, which something only God could do.

Mark 2:3-12
3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”  6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”  8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Matthew 9:2-8
2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” 3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”  4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.
Luke 5:18-26
18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. 20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”  21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”  22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Luke 7:41-50
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[c] and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”  43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”   “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.  44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”  48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”  50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

A claim of omni-presence:

matthew 18:20
20″For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

Jesus said the city of Jerusalem would be destroyed because they did not recognize God’s coming to them:

Luke 19:41-44
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Notice that Christ said He and the spirit of the Father and the Holy Spirit would give the disciples the words to say when they are persecuted. This indicates omnipresence and a supernatural power to give them the words.

Luke 21:12-15 (Jesus will give them utterance and wisdom which none of their opponents will be able to refute.)
12″But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.  13 “It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.  14 “So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves;  15 for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute.
Mt 10:16-20 (The Spirit of their Father will speak in them)
16″Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. 17″But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues; 18and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19″But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. 20″For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
Mark 13:9-11 (Holy Spirit will speak)
9″But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.  10″The gospel must first be preached to all the nations.  11″When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.

Christ knows what happened in front of the throne of God (compare to Job 1):

Luke 22:31-32
31″Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Christ claimed to have been around when Abraham was alive.

John 8:56-59 (they wanted to stone him because of his divine claim, where he called himself “I am”)
56″Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”  57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”  58Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”  59Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.

Jesus claimed to have existed before he was born and come from heaven:

John 3:13
13″No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.
John 6:33
33″For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”
John 6:38
38″For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
John 6:62
62″What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?
John 8:23
23And He was saying to them, “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.
John 8:42
42Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.
John 10:30-39
30″I and the Father are one.” 31The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him. 32Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?”  33The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.”  34Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS’? 35″If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?  37″If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;  38but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”  39Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp.
John 16:28
28″I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”
John 17:5
5″Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

Christ accepted worship:

Matthew 14:33 (notice the object of worship is God’s Son, but one only worships God and Jesus accepted it)
33And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”
John 9:35-41 (The worship was of the Son of Man, and one only worships God, and Jesus accepted it)
35 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”  37 Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.”  38 And he said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshiped Him.

Thomas called Jesus Lord and God, after believing and Jesus did not correct him.

John 20:28-29
28Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”
