What the Mormons teach about whether God resides in our hearts

Mormons have contradictory scriptures in regards to where does God dwell.

The Bible says in Ephesians 3:17

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love

The book of Mormon says in Alma 34:36

“…the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell…”

But the Mormon Doctrine and Covenants 130:3 states,

“the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.”

Apparently, many do not read their own scriptures or do not think about what their scriptures teach….? Certainly, they do not put the Bible as the foundation of what should be taught.

  1. Mormons do not believe that God actually dwells in a persons heart. Mormons believe that we can become one with Gods mind and will through faith in Christ and by the spirit of Christ “which lighteth every man that cometh into the world”. John 1:9

  2. Its more than Mormons not believing God dwells in a person’s heart. The book of Morman says God dwells in the hearts of the righteous. But their doctrine and covenants says otherwise.

Their holy books disagree with each other.

Mormons do not believe a number of things common to orthodox Christianity, ie. Mormons are polytheists even though the book of Mormon teaches monotheism.
