God makes our choice of Christ certain

God ensures that those who the Father gives to Christ WILL come to Christ
John 6:37
All that the Father gives Me WILL come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.
Only those whom the Father draws can come to Chris and that person will be raised upon the last day.
John 6:44
No one can come to Me UNLESS the Father who sent Me draws him; and I WILL raise him up on the last day.
God obviously does not draw everyone because there are some who do not believe – everyone who come to Christ must be granted permission by the Father to do so. If we do not choose Him then God has not granted permission for that person to come to Christ.
John 6:64-65
64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. 65 And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.”
And we know there are some who do not know Christ, even though they think they do. This tells us that some people think they are saved (and thus DESIRE to be saved), but are not saved. This also tells us some people DO things in God’s name (and thus WORK to be saved)  but are not saved.
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
Which is what scripture tells us.
Romans 9:15-17

15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.”

So our salvation depends GOD choosing us and God makes sure that we will choose Him.
