Is sharing the gospel with children child abuse?

I saw a post today where people were saying that some people believe that telling children “If you don’t believe in God, you are going to suffer and burn in hell for all eternity” is child abuse.

Many believe that we should not tell people of the whole truth – that we should just tell children that God is love. God IS love. But He is so much more. Many believe children who are told the whole gospel are harmed by it.

Other people get hung up on our behavior. But its our heart that matters, as this will  be reflected in our behavior. But this does not mean we should warn people of the truth.

Should I not mention that God will judge the secrets of men though Jesus Christ?

Romans 2:16

16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.

Should I not mention the wrath of God to my children?

Jn 3:17-21

17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.

Jn 3:34-36

34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Should I not mention that sin earns death?

Romans 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Should I not mention that we should fear the one who is able to destroy both body an soul?

Matthew 10:28

28 Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Should I not mention that unbelievers go to the second death?

Revelation 21:8

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

But its ok to share the Jesus loves us.

John 3:16

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

So what reason do we give our children for their need to be saved, if not the forgiveness of sin?

Matthew 25:46

46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Colossians 1:13-14

13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

If we dont teach there needs to be repentance, then are we merely teaching a belief which does not change lives? Do they end up with merely a saying faith and not a saving faith?

The whole reason the gospel should be preached is so the dead may live through faith.
1 Peter 4:6

For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

They need to know that Christ died for our sins, that HE was buried, raised again on the third day, and that He appeared to witnesses.

1 Corinthians 15:3-6

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep

I will certainly preach the full gospel to everyone, especially my children, regardless of age. I am not saying that we should be harsh and critical, but we also should not ignore truth. If someone wants to claim that is child abuse, then we will have to deal with the fall out from that. Because *I* feel it is child abuse to NOT tell people, especially children, the truth about God and what He has done for us.
