God does not promise material wealth, prosperity, no sickness, no troubles.

There are some who claim Christians are not going to suffer. There are some who say Christians will not be poor. There are some who say Christians will not be sick. There are some who claim Christians will not die an untimely death.

The prosperity gospel, which is what those idea push, is not biblical.

We know from Lk 2:22-24 (cp Lev 12:7-8) that Jesus’ family was poor since they had to offer turtledoves or pigeons. He had no place to lay his head (Mt 8:30). Im We know some brothers are poorly clothed and lack daily food (James 2:25-16). Paul suffered hunger and poverty (2 Cor 6:10; 2 Cor 11:27). If Jesus and Paul were poor, what makes you think you are guaranteed not to be?

We know almost all the apostled suffered painful unnatural deaths – yet God wrote all the days of our lives, including when and how we would die, before one of them came to be (Ps 139:116; Heb 9:27). No one dies an untimely death in that it happens as it was written.

Christians can be sick – in fact James said what to do in those cases (James 5:14).

Everyone will have tribulations (Romans 5:3-4).
