Advice on finding a godly wife

Advice on how to find a godly wife:

Forget singles groups.

Pray and ask God to be a godly man who lives and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit, who is filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal 5:22-23), who is wise and knowledgable in Scripture and who applies it to his own life. Work to become that man Pray to be a godly man and a godly husband and father.

Find a church with godly men. I suggest small church with good solid exegetical expository preaching – where the pastor/elder preaches through scripture verse by verse, explaining who God is, what God has done, what God is doing, what God will do, and what God wants from us and for us, and how to apply it in our lives. Go to bible studies with the men. Go to prayer meetings, morning coffee or breakfast groups. Go hunting with the men. Let them get to know you. You get to know them. Adopt the biblical characteristics and habits of the best of them – the ones who are godly and God willing have godly adult children. Be a godly man.

Pray and ask God for a godly wife who will help you through life and who will help you raise godly children.

Get to know older parents with the goal of making friends and becoming a disciple. Once they know you and your character, and know you are looking for a godly woman for a wife, many will be willing to on take on the task of helping find you a future wife.

Make a list of the biblical characteristics, behavior, habits of a godly wife. Before your emotions become engaged, compare each of the young ladies you meet to that list. look at the character and behavior of her parents. She will end up like one or parts of each of them. No one is perfect. We are all in progress of becoming more like Christ – be sure you can accept where she is at in her growth, recognizing she will change.
